   CHURCH NEWS

Open & Accepting

We are a family of faith that welcomes everyone to our congregation. Whatever your age, color, or social standing, you are welcome at Northeast Baptist Church.  We believe that in the beauty of diversity, we see the true reflection of God.

Our church affirms the reality that God's call is unique and personal to each individual and it is not limited by gender. Both women and men are free to answer God's call of service and Northeast Baptist Church encourages all people to be obedient to God's unique calling on their life.

"As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourself with Christ. There is no longer Jew nor Greek, there is no longer slave nor free, there is no longer male nor female. For all of you are all one in Christ Jesus." - Galatians 3:27-28

You are also welcome at Northeast no matter what has happened in your life. There are no ethical requirements for beginning the journey of faith.  If you are willing to travel with courage and honesty and in the company of people who are less than perfect, you are welcome to journey with us.

Ecumenical

Ecumenical means we celebrate our incompleteness. While we love the freedom and distinctive nature of Baptist churches, we understand the fullness of the gospel cannot be contained in any one church or denomination.

We call other denominations our friends and co-workers. We accept them as partners in the work of ministry. We value their traditions and welcome people whose Christian background is different from ours.  Our church participates in the Northeast Dekalb Ministers Organization, an ecumenical ministers group.

Biblically Responsible

At Northeast, we view Scripture as God's Holy Word and the means to lead us to faith in Christ.  The Bible is a guidebook that helps us discover God's will for our lives and calls us to love, forgiveness, and acceptance. As Christians first and Baptists second, we also affirm that all Scripture should be interpreted through the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and that we should follow its teachings with faith and courage.

Worship & Bible Study

At Northeast Baptist Church, worship is an interesting blend of formality and friendliness. Our worship has structure and order with a blend of openness and diversity. Worship begins at 11:00 and usually lasts about an hour. In worship, we sing a combination of traditional hymns and new worship songs.  Our worship service is meant to lead you into the presence of God through scripture, music, praise, and preaching.  We recite the Lord's prayer and sing the doxology each week to remind us of our roots while experiencing "hands on" spiritual formation through our monthly EPIC worship services.  EPIC stands for Experiential, Participatory, Image rich, and Connected.

Children are welcome as they are an important part of the worship service at Northeast. At the beginning of the service they come forward for a sermon designed just for them.

We believe that small group study of God's word is essential to spiritual growth. In addition to age-graded classes for preschoolers, children and youth, we also offer co-ed, ladies and men's classes for adults. All of our teachers are gifted leaders who have a heart for teaching God's Word and ministering to the needs of the class members. Our small groups offer a unique opportunity for fellowship and the building of close personal relationships.
